One nice thing about being an officer with the National League of Cities is I get to meet a lot of national figures. Most people are very nice and seem to be pretty down to earth. Laura Bush couldn't have been nicer. I am sometimes surprised when you meet someone who you have only seen on television and they are different in real life. David Gergen and Chris Matthews were much taller than I had imagined.
